General Interest
St Vincent and the Grenadines sent its first team to the Olympic Games in Seoul in 1988. A team of six athletes competed in track and field events, while a seventh athlete, boxer Hudson Nanton, was set to compete in the light heavyweight division but did not enter the ring for his first-round bout.
Eswort Coombs has had what could be considered the most significant result for a St Vincent and the Grenadines athlete. After winning his first heat and finishing fourth in the second, he reached the semifinals of the men's 400m at the Atlanta 1996 Games.
The St Vincent and the Grenadines team that competed at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games consisted of four athletes, two competed in the 400m in athletics, and two in swimming events.
