General Interest
The majority of athletes to have represented the NOC have competed in sprint events in athletics, but the only athlete to compete at two editions of the Games is a distance runner. Celma Bonfim Da Graca competed in the women's 5000m at the 2008 Games in Beijing and the 1500m at the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro. Naide Gomes, a hurdler, heptathlete and long jumper, represented Sao Tome and Principe at the 2000 Olympic Games before switching allegiance to Portugal for the 2004 and 2008 Games.
The 2008 Games were the first that an athlete representing Sao Tome and Principe competed in a sport other than athletics. In Beijing, Alcino Gomes da Silva entered the K1 500m and K1 1000m kayak events.
At the Rio 2016 Games, two runners and one canoe sprint athlete represented the NOC.
