General Interest

The Federated States of Micronesia made its Olympic debut at the 2000 Games in Sydney, and has competed at each edition of the Games since. The NOC sent its largest delegation of competitors to the 2012 Games in London, where six athletes competed across events in athletics, weightlifting, Greco-Roman wrestling, and swimming.

Weightlifter Manuel Minginfel holds the Micronesian record for Olympic appearances with four. He competed at consecutive editions of the Games between 2000 and 2012, and was also the NOC's flag bearer at the opening ceremony on all four occasions.

At Rio 2016, Jennifer Chieng became the first Micronesian athlete to compete in boxing at the Olympic Games. She lost in the round of 16 in the women's lightweight division.
