General Interest

At Mauritius' first Olympic appearance at the Los Angeles 1984 Games, four representatives from the NOC took part in athletics events. Since then, the NOC has sent teams to every edition of the Games.

Mauritius claimed its first medal in Beijing in 2008 when boxer Bruno Julie claimed bronze in the men's bantamweight division. Julie recorded three wins on his way to the semifinals where he lost to the eventual silver medallist from Cuba, Yankiel Leon.

Another notable result was achieved by Stephan Buckland in athletics. He reached the final of the men's 200m at the Athens 2004 Games, finishing sixth.

Sprinter Eric Milazar is the NOC's most experienced Olympian, having competed at four editions of the Games between 1996 and 2008. His best result was making the semifinals of the 400m at the 2004 Games in Athens.

At the Rio 2016 Games, six women and five men represented Mauritius. Boxer Kennedy St Pierre lost in the quarterfinals of the men's heavyweight division and finished ranked equal fifth.
