General Interest
Libya made its Olympic debut at the 1968 Games in Mexico City. There, 400m hurdler Mohamed Asswai was Libya's lone representative. He did not advance past the first heat in his event.
Runner Ali El Zaidi is the only athlete to represent Libya at the Olympic Games on three occasions, competing in the men's marathon in 2004, 2008 and 2012.
At the Rio 2016 Games, Libya sent seven athletes to compete in six sports. The delegation included the NOC's first rower with Alhussein Ghambour competing in the men's single skulls.
