General Interest

The 2020 Games in Tokyo are Jordan's 11th consecutive Olympic appearance. At its first, in Moscow in 1980, the NOC sent a four-athlete team to compete in rifle and trap shooting events.

Ahmad Abughaush made history for Jordan at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro by winning the NOC's first Olympic medal. Seeded 10th in the men's featherweight division in taekwondo, Abughaush defeated opponents from Egypt, the Republic of Korea, and Spain, before beating Russian Alexey Denisenko in the final to claim gold.

Another taekwondoka, Nadin Dawani, holds the Olympic appearance record for Jordan. She competed in the women's +67kg category at three consecutive editions of the Games between 2004 and 2012.

Swimmer Mira Ghniem is the youngest athlete to have represented Jordan at the Olympic Games. She competed in the women's 200m individual medley at Atlanta 1996 at age 13 years and 67 days. Equestrian jumper Hani Kamal Raji Bsharat is the NOC's oldest Olympic competitor. He was age 53 years and 281 days when he participated in the individual event at the 2012 Games in London.
