General Interest

Guinea-Bissau sent a team of three athletes to compete at its first Olympic Games in Atlanta in 1996. The NOC has been represented at each edition of the Games since but is yet to win an Olympic medal.

Freestyle wrestler Augusto Midana and sprinter Holder da Silva have competed at three Olympic Games, more than any other athlete from Guinea-Bissau. Both attended their first Games in Beijing in 2008 and their third in Rio in 2016.

Runner Anhel Cape was Guinea Bissau's first female Olympian. She competed in the women's 800m at Sydney 2000 and Athens 2004.

At Rio 2016, Taciana Cesar became the first athlete from Guinea-Bissau to compete in judo at the Olympic Games. She contested the women's 48kg division.
