General Interest

Grenada first competed at the Olympic Games in 1984 and has sent a team to every edition of the Games since. Kirani James won the NOC's first medal of any colour when he claimed gold in the men's 400m in athletics at the 2012 Games in London. James followed up his London gold with silver at Rio 2016, but it took a world record run from the outside lane by South African Wayde van Niekerk to defeat him. No other athlete from Grenada has finished on the podium at the Olympic Games.

Grenada's first female competitor at the Olympic Games was Jacinta Bartholomew, who competed in the long jump in 1984 in Los Angeles. The record for Olympic appearances by Grenadian athlete is held by Alleyne Francique with three. He competed in the 4x400m at Atlanta 1996, and then contested the 400m in both 2004 and 2008.

Athletes from Grenada have also competed in boxing, swimming, and taekwondo at the Olympic Games.
