General Interest

Burkina Faso first participated at the Olympic Games in 1972 in Munich, where the NOC competed under the name Upper Volta. Andre Bicaba was the sole athlete to represent the NOC, taking part in the 100m sprint.

The west African nation competed as Burkina Faso on its second Olympic appearance, which was at the 1988 Games in Seoul.

Sprinter Idrissa Sanou is the only athlete to have represented Burkina Faso at three Olympic Games. He competed in the men's 100m in 2000, 2004, and 2008.
