General Interest
Bangladesh has sent a delegation of athletes to each edition of the Olympic Games since 1984. The NOC was represented by seven athletes in 2016 in Rio de Janeiro, competing in athletics, swimming, golf, archery, and shooting at the Games.
The first female athlete to represent Bangladesh at the Olympic Games was shooter Shahana Parveen, who participated in the 10m air rifle competition in 1992 in Barcelona. Swimmer Doli Akhtar competed at the Games in 2000, 2004, and 2008, and is the only athlete from Bangladesh to have made three Olympic appearances.
