General Interest

American Samoa was represented in judo, weightlifting and athletics at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

The NOC is yet to win an Olympic medal but has sent a delegation to every edition of the Games since making its debut in 1988 in Seoul. The first athlete to compete at the 1988 Games was weightlifter Lopesi Faagu, who was age 48 years and 169 days. He remains the oldest competitor to have represented American Samoa at the Olympic Games.

Lisa Misipeka is American Samoa's most experienced Olympian, having competed at three consecutive editions of the Games between 1996 and 2004. She finished 25th in the women's shot put at the 1996 Games in Atlanta, and then switched disciplines to compete in hammer throw in 2000 and 2004.
