Her father Kenji Yamamoto played volleyball as a libero for Japanese V.League Division 1 club JT Thunders, and was called up to the national team for the world championships. Her mother played basketball for Mitsubishi Electronic, and later became a coach. Her older sister Kanako is a professional 3x3 basketball player, while her younger brother has competed at the Japanese national high school baseball championship.
