EARLY CAREER
Moved away from Latvia as a teenager to attend the Nationale Elitesportschule Thurgau (NET) in Switzerland to further his career. Later played professionally in Switzerland for former NHL coach Marc Crawford (CAN), which led to opportunities to play in North America. (olimpiade.lv, 6 Oct 2021)
