Started playing hockey at age 9, started playing full-time goalie at age 12.

Grew up playing street hockey with her older brother, who always put her in net, leading to her falling in love with goal-tending. (olympic.ca, 2022)

During the COVID-19 pandemic, she incorporated training exercises that could be practiced at home like yoga, strength training, and using a slide board. Also held Zoom sessions with other goaltenders around the world performing "competitive concentration games". (hockeycanada.ca, 22 Aug 2021)
