NEW TEAM
They teamed up in March 2020 following the retirement of their previous partners, after Frazier reached out to her just to talk about the possibility of a tryout.
"We knew when we teamed up people were going to expect just great, big elements because we had them with our previous partners, but when first started trying things together, it was like two languages that are similar, but they are not the same and you can't quite understand everything that they are doing and saying but you kind of know. FROM ROLLER TO ICE SKATING
He started as a roller skater before switching to the ice in 2004. (isuresults.com)
QUICK SUCCESS
They won their first competition as a team, the Grand Prix Skate America, in October 2020 and the National title in January 2021.
COVID-19
Missed the 2022 U.S. Championship as he contracted COVID-19, but were named to the Olympic team nevertheless as they had achieved good results in the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating. (usfigureskatingfanzone.com, 26 Jan 2022)
PREVIOUS PARTNERS
Knierim competed with her husband Chris 2012-20, earning silver at the 2016 Four Continents Championships and bronze in 2014. Before Chris, she skated with Ivan Dimitrov 2009-12.
Frazier skated with Haven Denney from 2005-08 and 2011-2020, winning gold at the 2013 World Junior Championships. He partnered with Mandy Garza from 2009-11.
COACHES
Coaches Jenni Meno and Todd Sand competed together in pair skating representing the United States at three Olympic Winter Games (1992, 1994, 1998) and are three-time world medallists (bronze in 1995 and 1996, silver in 1998).
Coach Chris Knierim is Alexa Knierim's husband.
