"My parents wanted my siblings and I to have after-school activities. My sister danced and I accompanied her for a couple of years. I grew tired of the routine. The Addison Ice rink was only five minutes from my home. We tried the skating program through the park district to start. Shortly after that, the skating school of International Skating Corp. in Addison recruited me to join their school." (Athlete, 14 Jun 2021)

Her goal is to continue to bring enthusiasm and optimism into her training daily, but also to carry this energy with her in all future outlets of life. "My ambition in life after skating is to inspire those around me to strive for greatness and enjoy the journey. Not all goals need to be outcome bases. Some of the most valued goals we can set are those that create fulfillment from within, derived from your attitude." (Athlete, 14 Jun 2021)

Returning to the competitive scene at the Four Continents Championships in 2017 after several stomach surgeries is her most valued competition. "The layers of uncertainty and adversity I endured to make it to that point impacted me in the most positive way imaginable. The sheer joy and passion I felt when I completed my first event will never be matched." (Athlete, 14 Jun 2021)

:

Her mother. "My mother always instilled confidence in me to pursue my wildest dreams. She opened my heart to desire greatness because she believed in me. Without her love I would have not been influenced by anyone the same and I would not have accomplished a fraction of what I have thus far." (Athlete, 14 Jun 2021)

:

"Before every competition my mom sends me cards for each program. It is a ritual that I open my card before I compete.
"I always put my left skate on first." (Athlete, 14 Jun 2021)

:

"Sport is a unique gift to those who have the opportunity to pursue it. Respect for your sport and respect for your teammates and competitors is the foundation for a healthy relationship in and out of the game. Prioritizing your mental health while you push the capabilities of your physical health is monumental for a successful life after sport." (Athlete, 14 Jun 2021)

General Interest

TEAMING UP WITH FRAZIER
Teamed up with Frazier in spring 2020 after her partner and husband Chris Knierim retired from competing. "We knew when we teamed up people were going to expect just great, big elements because we had them with our previous partners, but when first started trying things together, it was like two languages that are similar, but they are not the same and you can't quite understand everything that they are doing and saying but you kind of know. Specifically, the throws and twist took a long time to figure out." (Athlete, Jan 2021, Pirouette Magazine, Feb 2021)

SKATING MARRIAGE
Married her longtime skating partner Chris Knierim in June 2016.

FORMER PARTNERS
Skated with Chris Knierim from 2012-20, winning three national titles (2015, 2018, 2020), two medals at the Four Continents (2016 silver, 2014 bronze), and team bronze at the Pyeongchang 2018 Olympic Winter Games (15th in pairs).

Milestones

OLYMPIC WINTER GAMES
Won the bronze medal in the team event in her Olympic debut at PyeongChang 2018 (with pairs partner/husband Chris Knierim), placing fourth in the short program (with a season's best score), and fourth in the free skate. Their total combined score was the highest of their season.

In the pair event at PyeongChang 2018, they were 14th in the short program and 15th overall in what was the strongest Olympic pair competition to date. In the free skate, they became the first pair from the United States of America, and the second pair ever in history, to successfully perform a quadruple twist at the Olympic Winter Games.

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
At the 2021 World Championships in her world debut with Brandon Frazier, they finished seventh - the best result by pair from the United States of America since 2015 (when she achieved the same placement with her former partner Chris Knierim).

With partner Chris Knierim:
She finished ninth in her World Championships debut in 2013; seventh in 2015 (the highest finish by a U.S. pair since 2011); ninth in 2016 (seventh in the short program with a personal best score of 71.37, and set a new record for the highest score ever by a U.S. pair team in international competition).

In 2017, she and Chris were 10th, where fifth through 10th were separated by 4.35 points (placed eighth in the short program with a personal best score of 72.17, the highest score ever by a U.S. pair team under that version of the judging system). They were the only U.S. pair to qualify for the free skate. Their total score of 202.37 was the second-highest in U.S. pairs history, and they would remain the only U.S. pair to have ever surpassed the 200-point barrier under that judging system. This was the Knierims' fourth top-10 finish in their four Worlds appearances. They were the only U.S. pair in the previous five years to have earned top-10 finishes at the World Championships.

In 2018, they were 11th in the short program and less than three points from the top five. Finishing 15th overall, they were the only U.S. pair to qualify for the free skate for the second consecutive year.

FOUR CONTINENTS
Two-time medallist at Four Continents (2016 silver, 2014 bronze) with partner Chris Knierim.
