Her parents signed her up for Little Rock curling at age eight at the Granite Curling Club in Ottawa. “I really liked being out there and I liked developing skills. I really liked the Timbits and the hot chocolate, to be honest. When you’re eight years old, that’s a priority.” (Athlete, 17 Dec 2021)
“It seems like such a weird sport when you watch it. When I was a kid no one else curled, it didn’t seem like a popular thing to do. But I made some really great friends, and I like the teamwork, the camaraderie, the travel.” (Athlete, 17 Dec 2021)

When in Ottawa she practises on ice five to six days per week, including a Wednesday night league. When she’s with the team, there are two on-ice sessions per day for four to five hours. She has a workout centre in her basement and a running track near her home.
