Her father took her to his curling club on a Sunday morning at age 10. She loved to watch him play and had appeared on the ice before, but knew curling would be her sport on that Sunday. (Athlete, 18 Oct 2021)
“It was growing on me when I was a child. You loved different aspects. Back then it was more about the fun and being away from home, being with other kids. Now it’s more about strategy and to have goals together as a team. Every stage had other ways that were fascinating for me to keep going.” (Athlete, 18 Oct 2021)
“I think as a reigning double world champion, if you’re not saying the goal is to win a medal, you’re lying. We want to win a medal.” (Athlete, 18 Oct 2021)
She and her teammates train on ice every day, but not always together. Sometimes they practice in pairs. Prior to a tournament the full team might train for two or three days together at the national centre before travelling. (Athlete, 18 Oct 2021)
Winning the 2021 World Championship in Calgary. “That was just amazing, just how the team handled it and how we performed under those circumstances (bubble competition). It’s just something I’m very proud of, and it will probably always be top on the list of great achievements.” (Athlete, 18 Oct 2021)

Her grandmother Susan, who died over 10 years ago. “There are certain things I do every day where I think about her, like how would she have handled that, or what would she have said. She was just the nicest person I know on the planet. You wish to be like this yourself, but I don’t think I will ever reach that level she was in kindness and generosity.” (Athlete, 18 Oct 2021)
“I used to have them, but then I just found it so much of a distraction.” (Athlete, 18 Oct 2021)
“One of my coaches said ‘Don’t always practice hard, practice smart.’ That sentence really made me better. I was always a hard worker but only when I started to practice smart I became a better curler and I had more success.” (Athlete, 18 Oct 2021)
