General Interest

ROUGH BEGINNINGS
Competed in four consecutive four-player Pacific-Asia Junior Championships between 2012-15, starting at age 12, compiling a won/loss record of 1-28 (playing lead and second) and five World Junior “B” Curling Championships between 2016-19, with a 4-26 record. However, her record with Hewitt at the 2021 Olympic Qualifying Event was 7-0. “It’s not a bad thing to fail, it’s a good thing if you can learn from your failures. It can make you a better athlete and a better person.” (Athlete, 19 Dec 2022)

COACH CONNECTIONS
Her coach John Morris’ father Earle used to coach Hewitt’s father. The younger Morris was interested in coaching when the Australians finished fourth at the 2019 World Mixed Doubles Championship, and they were put in touch. “He just fills you with so much confidence. He’s so experienced, and at such big events it’s nice to have someone who’s been through that and knows how to handle such big events.”

Her coach, John Morris (CAN), said of her. “Tahli’s been so impressive this year, she’s got the eye of the tiger. For someone who has pretty much trained on hockey arena ice for six or seven years, it’s amazing what she can do now.” (Athlete, 19 Dec 2022; John Morris, 15 Jan 2022)

BUILDING A FACILITY
“The dream is that curling in Australia really grows, and eventually we get a curling rink. That would be awesome.” (thestarphoenix.com, 18 Sep 2021)
