Father Mats Wranaa (Curling): Finished seventh at the 1995 European Championships in Grindelwald. "When we don’t train curling we play pool, which is pretty similar to curling in many aspects. When you hit the ball in pool, the movement is very similar to a slide in curling. It has to be perfect from the beginning to the end. And we have discovered that it’s really important with pool to always keep that competition mode, so that we never make any weird decisions in competition." (olympics.com, 11 Jan 2018)

General Interest

SIBLING
Partnered with his sister Isabella in late 2020, in order to try and qualify for the mixed doubles at the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games. They won their first tour event in Bern in October (previously won a bronze medal together at 2016 Swedish Championships). The Olympic spot eventually went to Oskar Eriksson (Rasmus' teammate) and Almida de Val (Isabella's third). "It's fun to compete with my sister. We have known each other for a long time and played a little together before. When we were a little younger, we could get a little angry at each other, but I think both have matured a little since then." (svt.se, 13 Oct 2020; worldcurling.org, 2021)

FAMILY GOLD... ALMOST
In 2017, the Wranaa family had the opportunity to become triple gold medallists. Fathers Mats, won the World Senior Championship and sister Isabella had won the World Juniors. Rasmus fell just short, as Team Edin lost 4-2 to Canada's Team Gushue in the gold medal match in Edmonton. Rasmus' 73% the lowest of all competitors in the match (he threw 85% in the round robin, fourth highest amongst seconds).

TEAM EDIN
Joined Team Edin in June 2016 after Kristian Linstrom underwent shoulder surgery and required a long rehabilitation period. " I was fantastically happy, of course. This opens up completely new opportunities for me as a curling player and it will be an exciting challenge to be able to play at the very highest international level." (mynewsdesk.com, 3 Jun 2016)

PARTNER
Dating Czech curler Ezen Kolcevskaja, who competes with Team Kubeskova. They have participated in three World Championships (2017, 2018, 2021) and are the 2019 national champions. (Instagram, 8 Apr 2021)
