Father Mikael Hasselborg (Curling): World Championship silver medallist (1985), European gold (1990) and bronze (1994) medallist, and two World senior Championship gold medals (2016, 2017). Coached the Swedish Women’s World Championship (1999) and Junior Women’s World Championship (2010) teams to gold, and the men’s Junior World Championship team to four silver medals (2003, 2005, 2006, 2007).

Brother Marcus Hasselborg (Curling): Three-time World Junior Championship silver medallist (2005, 2006, 2007).

Would tag along with her father at the curling rink when he was practicing. At age seven, she entered and won her first competition with her dad and brother’s team. “I went to throw a draw, my dad was skipping, and I made a perfect tick shot. NO BABY BLUES
Three months after giving birth to her daughter Mira, in June 2020, she won the Women’s Masters Basel world tour event in Arlesheim, her first competition back after maternity leave. (tellerreport.com, 20 Sep 2020)

DREAM TEAM
Hasselborg, Sara McManus and Agnes Knochenhauer won gold together at the 2010 World Junior Championships in Flims. Split at the start of their senior careers, with Hasselborg and Knochenhauer teaming up, and McManus playing with future teammate Sofia Mabergs. In 2015, Hasselborg contacted McManus about forming a new team, with the goal of qualifying for the Olympic Winter Games. The quartet won gold in PyeongChang 2018, and have two European titles (2018, 2019) and two World Championship silver medals (2018, 2019). (sportsnet.ca, 20 Jan 2018)

NO MIXING
After winning the 2019 World Mixed Doubles Championship with Team Edin third Oskar Eriksson, her team decided to focus on women’s four-player team curling for Beijing. This opened the door for Almida De Val to contact Eriksson and recruit him for the 2020-21 season, which eventually resulted in Olympic bronze at Beijing 2022.

ICE TECHS

Uncle Stefan Hasselborg (Curling): World Championship silver medallist (1985), European gold (1990) and bronze (1994) medallist. Sweden’s national coach from 1998-2010. Coached the women’s team to gold at two Olympic Winter Games (2006, 2010), one World Championship (2006) and two Europeans (2000, 2005); and the men’s team to two European titles (1998, 2001).
