Sister Tabitha Peterson (Curling): Finished eighth at the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games. Bronze medallist at the 2021 World Championship and 2010 World Junior Championship playing alongside Tara. Won bronze at the 2016 World Mixed Doubles Championship.

Brother Trent Peterson (Golf): Former professional golfer. Currently competing as an amateur.

At age eight, she and her 10-year-old sister were taken to the St. Paul Curling Club. “We hated it. We had to get up early on a Saturday, we didn’t like it at all. The only thing we liked were the snacks at halftime. But we kept at it, we got good and the rest is history.” (Athlete, 30 Dec 2021)
