Sister Rebecca Hamilton (Curling): Competed in both disciplines at the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games, finishing sixth in mixed doubles with her brother. The pair finished 10th at the 2017 World Mixed Doubles Championship. Bronze medallist at the 2021 World Championship, in her third appearance.
2015 World Championship in Halifax vs. Canada (11-10 Loss)
Started at the Madison Curling Club. “I went to the club to watch my dad play league. He and his team weren’t very good and I thought, maybe I should try this and be better than this. I went to a junior programme and loved playing. Next season, freshman year of high school, my good buddy asked me to play in a league with him. I fell in love.” (Athlete, 9 Jan 2022)
“I was a huge sports kid growing up. I wanted to do it all and try every sport. When I found curling and learned the potential of a competitive player I figured I’d give it a go. Turns out I got really good really fast, and decided I could dedicate myself to this.” (Athlete, 9 Jan 2022)
“I want to be ready for life after curling. Curling has been amazing to me and opened so many doors. I would love to continue to inspire people, and make a living through the things I’ve learned from curling and sports.” (Athlete, 9 Jan 2022)
Winning gold at the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games. (Athlete, 9 Jan 2022)
His sister Rebecca. “My sister has had the biggest impact on my performance. I’m super competitive and when Becca took up the game I knew I had to stay ahead of her. Steel sharpens steel and she made me refine and hone my game to get to where it is now. She is an absolute stud and I owe her a lot for the success I’ve had.” (Athlete, 9 Jan 2022)
Keeps a tattered bright green winter hat in his back pocket while competing. “My lucky hat. In the words of Michael Scott (TV’s The Office), ‘I’m not superstitious, but I’m a little ’stitious.’ This goes to every event I play and goes in the back pocket.” (espn.com, 1 Feb 2022)
“Practice does not make perfect. Practice supports improvement. You can always be better, and you should always strive to be better.” (Athlete, 9 Jan 2022)
