2020: Broke his right thumb, requiring laparoscopic surgery. Resulted in arthritis in the thumb joint, and he can experience discomfort when brushing. He tapes his thumb during games. “I found out at the Olympic qualifier that if I’m high enough on adrenaline, I don’t need tape.” (Athlete, 29 Dec 2021)
Suffered discomfort in his left knee since age 16. An MRI scan in 2020 revealed Plica Synonvialis Syndrome, which he controls through physiotherapy.
Enjoyed watching curling at the Torino 2006 Olympic Winter Games and tried it at Hvidovre Curling Club. Within three weeks a team asked him to join them for the Danish Junior Championships, where they won bronze. A few years later, he was the skip of the team at the 2011 World Junior Championships.
“I like the tactical aspect as well as the physical aspect of sweeping, that’s why I enjoy my position of third and vice-skip. I also got loads of friends within the first few years of curling, I still talk to them to this day.” (Athlete, 29 Dec 2021)
Trains on-ice with his team three days per week totalling four to five hours per week, and spends a similar period of time in off-ice workouts.
Securing Denmark's berth at Beijing 2022, at the 2021 Olympic Qualification Event.
Canadian skip (and men’s coach in Beijing) Jeff Stoughton, who throws the stone with a “tuck delivery” which originates in Manitoba. “A lot of people think that’s why I’m tuck sliding, but that’s not why. It’s actually because of my knee injury. I couldn’t slide regularly without knee pain, so I tried tuck sliding.” (Athlete, 29 Dec 2021)
Junior coaches, Carsten Blom (DEN) and Brad Kuhn (CAN).
“We’re all very superstitious. I always play in ski underwear, under my pants. I’ve been doing that since I was 16. I think one of the pairs I have is from that age. I wore the same pair for every Olympic qualifying game.” (Athlete, 29 Dec 2021)
"Be not afraid of greatness. Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and others have greatness thrust upon them." - Williams Shakespeare
“So for me, this means I have to achieve greatness, I wasn’t born with it, I have to work for it myself. I have it in a tattoo.” (Athlete, 29 Dec 2021)
