World Championship skip Kristian Soerum (NOR) worked with his father, and Nergaard participated in some various social work events at Snaroya CurlingKlubb from age five onward. “The rock was pretty heavy. I had both my feet in both hacks, and just pushed out. The draws were better than the takeouts, I think.” (Athlete, 10 Jan 2022)

:

I think most people think it’s fun when they try it out. Anyone can make the shots, they don’t have to be the strongest or fastest or most athletic. Everyone starts at the same level.” (Athlete, 10 Jan 2022)

Believes his team, which qualified seventh of the 10 nations at Beijing 2022, is not expected to reach the podium. “On a given day we may have the opportunity to beat them. But we are not medal favourites.” (vg.no, 25 Dec 2021)

:

“If the world had been like in the old days, we would certainly have traveled more this year – and especially last year. Now I have been able to work, and train at lunch and in the evening. It has been easier to (train) than if everything had been open. It has almost been easier with the pandemic.” (vg.no, 25 Dec 2021)

:

“Participating at the Vancouver Olympics in 2010 in front of a packed arena. It was crazy.” (Athlete, 10 Jan 2022)

General Interest

WORLDS SKIP
Skipped his team in place of Thomas Ulsrud at the 2010 World Championship, when Ulsrud had to return home for family reasons. They lost their opening match before winning 10 games in a row, including defeating Scotland’s Warwick Smith in the semi-final.

NO PANTS
He’s the only player remaining from the Ulsrud team that wore the famous "crazy" pants while competing. There are no plans to wear them at Beijing 2022. “I think we’ve kind of used it (enough). I think I have a hundred pants or something, in the closet. So I don’t have to buy those for a while. Unless I eat a lot.” (Athlete, 10 Jan 2022)

VEGAS WEDDING
Married his wife in Las Vegas immediately after the 2016 Continental Cup competition was hosted there. The wedding featured teammates, rival athletes and Elvis Presley impersonators.

FUTURE DRIVE
Isn’t sure if he will continue curling after the 2022 season. “It might be the end, I don’t know. It’s been a goal for a year now to make the Olympics. When you do something I think you should try to do it 100 percent, right? Or you don’t give a fuck, it doesn’t matter. But if you’re gonna try, really try, while you can.” (Athlete, 10 Jan 2022)

“I have quit so many times that I do not want to say anything. But there will probably not be 400 more international matches.” (vg.no, 25 Dec 2021)
