OLYMPIC GAMES HISTORY
Ukraine made its Olympic debut at the Lillehammer 1994 Olympic Winter Games winning two medals, highlighted by the gold medal-winning performance of Oksana Baiul in women's figure skating. Biathlete Valentyna Tserbe claimed bronze in the women's sprint.

It has won 147 Olympic medals, with 38 gold. Of these, eight came at the Olympic Winter Games (three gold), with the bulk of them coming in biathlon with five medals. Only Vita Semerenko has won two medals, a gold and silver at Sochi 2014.

Ukraine has never hosted an Olympic Games, but in 1980 several preliminary football matches were held in the Respublikansky stadion in Kyiv.
