Slovakia competed in seven sports: Alpine skiing, biathlon, cross-country skiing, figure skating, ice hockey, luge and snowboarding - with a team of 54 athletes (40 men, 14 women).
It won three medals (one gold), all by biathlete Anastasia Kuzmina, who won the mass start race and took silver in the individual and pursuit.

OLYMPIC GAMES HISTORY
Slovakia made its debut at the Lillehammer 1994 Olympic Winter Games and has competed at all Olympic Games and Olympic Winter Games since.
Won its first Olympic Winter medal at Torino 2006, when snowboarder Radoslav Zidek won a silver medal in snowboard cross. Since then, Slovakia has won eight medals (three gold) with biathlete Anastasia Kuzmina, winning six of them and all three gold medals.
The nation has won 40 Olympic medals, including 13 gold medals. Slovakians have particularly excelled in slalom canoeing, winning eight Olympic titles in that sport. Three of these were claimed by the Hochschorner twins, Pavol and Peter, who won the C-2 slalom title three times in a row (2000, 2004, and 2008). Michal Martikan has won the most medals for Slovakia with five (two gold, two silver, one bronze) in slalom canoeing.
