OLYMPIC WINTER GAMES HISTORY
The National Olympic Committee of San Marino was formed in April 1959 and recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in May of the same year. It first competed at Rome 1960 and then every Olympic Games since 1968.

San Marino has competed at the Olympic Winter Games since 1976, only missing the editions of 1980 and 1998. Sixteen Sammarinese have competed at the Olympic Winter Games, 15 men and one woman, Alpine skier Federica Selva at Sochi 2014 (giant slalom).

Most of its participations have been in Alpine skiing, with a 2-man bobsleigh team in 1994, and Andrea Sammaritani competing in cross-country skiing (1984, 1988, 1992). Alpine skier Nicola Ercolani is the only other Sammarinese athlete to compete at three Olympic Winter Games (1988, 1992, 1994).

At Tokyo 2020, San Marino won three medals - a silver by the mixed trap team (Alessandra Perilli, Gian Marco Berti), and bronze medals in women's trap (Alessandra Perilli) and in the men's freestyle wrestling 86kg (Myles Nazem Amine).
