OLYMPIC GAMES HISTORY
The National Olympic Committee of Peru was formed in October 1924 but its first Olympian was fencer Carlos de Candamo, who competed at the Paris 1900 Olympic Games. In 1905 he also became Peru's first International Olympic Committee (IOC) member. Peru's next Olympic appearance was in 1936 and it has only missed the Helsinki 1952 Olympic Games since.

Peru made its first appearance at the Olympic Winter Games at Vancouver 2010, also competing at Sochi 2014. In both years Peru was represented by three athletes - the brother/sister tandem of Manfred and Omella Oettl in Alpine skiing and cross-country men's skier Roberto Carcelen. Its best finish was 57th in the women's giant slalom by Omella Oettl (2014).

Peru has won four Olympic medals (one gold). Three of these were in shooting, including the only gold medal, won by Edwin Vasquez in the men's 50m free pistol (1948), and one in women's volleyball. The NOC has won one medal each in 1948, 1984, 1988, and 1992.
