The Netherlands competed in four sports: short track speed skating, skeleton, snowboard and speed skating - with a team of 31 athletes (15 men, 16 women).
They country won 20 medals (eight gold), with 12 won by women and eight by men. The Netherlands was fifth on the medal list at PyeongChang 2018, both in terms of medals won and gold medals won. The Dutch women were equal first on medals won and equal second in terms of gold medals won, in both cases tied with the United States.
The Netherlands again dominated the ice ovals, winning 16 medals (seven gold medals) in speed skating. The Netherlands won its other four medals in short track. In her fourth Olympic Winter Games, speed skater Ireen Wust won three medals, gold in the 1500m and silver medals in the 3000m and team pursuit, giving her 11 Olympic medals and five gold medals for her career.
Jorien ter Mors uniquely won a gold medal in women's 1000m speed skating and a bronze in short track relay, becoming the first athlete to win medals in those two disciplines at a single Olympic Winter Games and only the second to do so in an Olympic career, after Eric Flaim (USA) in 1988 (speed skating) and 1994 (short track).

OLYMPIC GAMES HISTORY
The Netherlands sent 42 athletes to the Paris 1900 Olympic Games, and after missing St. Louis 1904, the Netherlands has never missed another Olympic Games. The country made its Olympic Winter Games debut at St. Moritz 1928 and has only missed Lake Placid 1932, appearing continuously since.
The Netherlands has always been one of the top nations in speed skating, and more recently, has completely dominated the sport. Dutch speed skaters led the medal lists at the 1968, 1972, 1998, 2002, 2014, and 2018 Olympic Winter Games. At Sochi 2014 they crushed the competition, winning 23 medals of 36 possible, and eight of a possible 12 gold.
Of the 130 medals won by the Netherlands at the Olympic Winter Games, 121 have come in speed skating.
Speed skater Ireen Wust has won 11 medals (five gold) and ranks as the best Dutch Olympic competitor, Summer or Winter. Speed skater Sven Kramer leads Dutch men, with nine medals (four gold).
The Netherlands has won 453 Olympic medals, 141 of them gold. Its best sports at the Olympic Games has been swimming (58 medals), track cycling (37 medals), and rowing (36 medals).
