Malaysia competed with a team of two male athletes in Alpine skiing and figure skating. The country's best finish was 25th by Julian Yee in men's singles figure skating. This was Malaysia's first appearance at the Olympic Winter Games.

OLYMPIC GAMES HISTORY
In 1963, Malaya, North Borneo (Sabah), Sarawak and Singapore joined to form the Federation of Malaysia. On 5 May 1964, the NOCs of Malaya, Singapore, Sabah, and Sarawak formed the Olympic Council of Malaysia. Three of these states had competed at the Olympic Games previously, but they would march under one banner at Tokyo 1964.
Malaysia first appeared at the Olympic Winter Games at PyeongChang 2018, represented by two men. Figure skater Zhi Jie "Julian" Yee finished 25th, while Alpine skier Jeffrey Webb competed in the slalom and giant slalom. Yee carried the Malaysian flag at both the Opening and Closing Ceremonies.
Since the separation of Singapore from Malaysia in 1965, Malaysia has participated at all Games of the Olympiad, with the exception of Moscow 1980. At Barcelona 1992, the nation won its first Olympic medal, a bronze by Alan Sidek Mohamed and Ajib Sidek Mohamed in men's badminton double, its national sport. Malaysia has since won eight more Olympic medals in badminton (six silvers, two bronzes), diving, and track keirin cycling (both one silver, one bronze).
