Jamaica competed with a team of three athletes (one man, two women) in bobsleigh and skeleton. Its best finish was 18th by Jazmine Fenlator-Victorian and Carrie Russell in 2-woman bobsleigh. OLYMPIC GAMES HISTORY
Jamaica has sent athletes to all the Olympic Games since 1948, while at Calgary 1988, it competed at its first Olympic Winter Games, represented by a bobsleigh team. The film, "Cool Runnings", was later made inspired by that team.
Since then, Jamaica has competed at every Olympic Winter Games, save 2006, mostly in bobsleigh. It has only 14 Winter Olympians (12 men, two women) of which 12 were bobsledders. At Vancouver 2010, Errol Kerr competed in freestyle skiing and at PyeongChang 2018 Anthony Watson competed in men's skeleton. Jamaica has qualified a male Alpine skiier for Beijing, Benjamin Alexander.
Jamaica's best Winter Olympic finish was ninth by Kerr in 2010 skicross. Three Jamaican bobsledders have competed at four Olympic Winter Games - the brothers Chris and Dudley Stokes (1988, 1992, 1994, 1998) and Winston Watts (1994, 1998, 2002, 2014).
The nation has won 86 Olympic Games medals (26 golds), with 85 coming in athletics (primarily sprint events). The other medal was a cycling bronze won by David Weller in the 1000m time trial (1980).
The most renowned Jamaican athlete has been sprinter Usain Bolt, who won the 100m, 200m and anchored the winning 4x100m relay at the 2008, 2012, and 2016 Olympic Games, although the 2008 relay gold medal was later removed for a doping positive by one of his teammates, Nesta Carter.
In 1960, athletes from Jamaica, Barbados and Trinidad combined to form the West Indies Federation team. That team won two medals, one by George Kerr, a Jamaican, in the 800m, while the other was a bronze in the 4x400m relay. Three members of that relay team were Jamaican while one was from Barbados.
