OLYMPIC GAMES HISTORY
Formerly a part of Czechoslovakia, the Czech Republic was founded in December 1992 and the new National Olympic Committee was provisionally recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in March 1993, before full recognition later that year.

Made its first Olympic appearance at the Lillehammer 1994 Olympic Winter Games, and have competed at every Games since.

The Czech Republic has won 31 medals (nine golds) at the Olympic Winter Games, with its best sports having been cross-country skiing (nine medals), speed skating (seven medals, three golds) and biathlon (seven medals).

The most successful athletes have been two female Winter Olympians. Katerina Neumannova won six medals in cross-country skiing between 1992-06, while also competing in cycling at the Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games, and speed skater Martina Sablikova also added six medals (three gold, one silver, one bronze in 2010 and 2014).
