Finished 8th at 2019 PanAm Games. In other events - bronze in 4x400 men's relay at 2019 PanAm Games. While competing for University of Kentucky in the United States of America, he received a 2019/20 CATSPY Elite Performance award at the university's annual student-athlete awards ceremony. He was also named Southeastern Conference [SEC] Freshman of the Year for 2017/18.
Finished 4th at 2019 WCh, 6th in 2017. Gold at 2018 NACAC Ch. Silver at 2019 PanAm Games. In other events - silver in men's 4x400m relay at 2019 WCh and 2019 World Relays Ch. He was diagnosed with the Zika virus in 2016. The condition affected his performance at the 2016 National Senior Championships in Jamaica, where he was eliminated in the semifinals of the 400m.
Finished 22nd at 2016 OG, 25th in 2012. Placed 8th at 2017 WCh, 5th in 2015. Gold at 2014 and 2012 African Ch, silver in 2008 and 4th in 2016. Gold at 2018 CWG. Gold at 2015 African Games. During competitions he wears a flashy yellow sleeve on his right forearm in tribute to his favourite athlete, sprinter Sanya RICHARDS-ROSS (USA).
Finished 5th at 2019 PanAm Games. Eight at 2018 Junior WCh. He took up athletics at age 14, initially competing in cross-country, 1500m and 3000m events. He also played volleyball until age 16, but gave it up to focus on athletics to improve his chances of earning a university scholarship.
Finished 11th at 2016 OG. Gold at 2019 WCh, silver in 2017. Won Gyulai Istvan Memorial meet on 2021 World Athletics Continental Tour. In other events - bronze in 4x400m relay at 2016 OG. He keeps his silver medal from the 2017 World Championships in London, England on his night stand in his bedroom so that he can look at it before sleeping. 'It acts as an inspiration.'
Finished 22nd at 2019 WCh. Fourth at Gyulai Istvan Memorial meet on 2021 World Athletics Continental Tour. Won 2021 Diamond League meet in Doha. Won 2021 NCh. He suffered an injury during the 2019 World Championships in Doha, Qatar, causing him to miss out on a place in the 400m final. His mother Nobue Saito competed in sprints during high school in Japan.
Gold at 2016 OG. Won 2017 and 2015 WCh. In other events - silver in 200m at 2017 WCh. Gold in 200m and 4x100m relay at 2016 African Ch. In July 2019 he sustained a bone contusion in his right knee and was sidelined until February 2020. In February 2021 he announced that he was leaving longtime coach Ans BOTHA to begin working with Lance BRAUMAN's training group in Florida, USA.
Placed 5th at Gyulai Istvan Memorial meet on 2021 World Athletics Continental Tour. Finished 4th at 2020 Diamond League Golden Gala meet. Won 2020 NCh, 2nd in 2021 and 2018. He took up athletics at age six at the AV Suomi club in Santpoort, Netherlands.
