He initially took up high jump due to his height - 'It had to be this or basketball, didn't it?' - though he started out as a runner. He was forced to take a year off between 2015 and 2016 because of shin splints.

He was a fan of Canadian high jumper Michael MASON (CAN) growing up and they became friends when he made the national team. 'For me, it's been great - I have learnt so much from him.'

His father Marco TAMBERI (ITA) was a high jumper at 1980 OG. Nicknamed 'Halfshave' because, up until February 2021, he competed with half a beard, leaving left side of his face unshaven.
Won 2021 NCh. Bronze at 2018 Junior WCh. In other events - gold in long jump at 2021 NCh, 9th at 2018 Junior WCh. He has hair braided or tied back before each jump and always wears two chains, one given to him by his mother, Georgia HARRISON (USA), who is his hero and in the hall of fame for athletics at Alabama A&M University. His goal is to be a successful Olympian in the two events.
