His father Huseyin Ildem represented Turkey in wrestling at the world championships in 1983 and 1987. He has also worked as a coach for the Turkey national wrestling team. SHOOTING INCIDENT
In 2017 he was shot in the leg following an argument over a traffic incident. "My only fear was that I couldn't do sports again. It really was a miracle.
