Her younger sister Zehra Demirhan and cousin Bedriye Aksu have represented Turkey in freestyle wrestling. Both took part at the 2020 Yasar Dogu event in Istanbul, Turkey. Zehra has also competed in Greco-Roman wrestling at junior international level. Her partner Haydar Yavuz has represented Turkey in freestyle wrestling and won bronze at the 2020 European Championships in Rome, Italy. In 2012 she featured in the documentary 'Know my Name', which depicts her story as a young female wrestler financially supporting her family of 13 in an impoverished community. VOLUNTEER
She has volunteered at humanitarian organisation Turkish Red Crescent in Siirt, Turkey, which forms part of the International Red Cross.
