She took up wrestling in 2004. "My first competition was the 2004 National Sports Festival in Abuja. Though I joined wrestling two months earlier, I won all my trials in Ondo State before going for the festival and I finished fourth. It was a great experience for me and that was where my coach started encouraging me. My first medal was at the 2006 National Open Championship in Ebonyi." (thenationonlineng.net, 09 Apr 2021)

"I was playing handball before I was introduced to wrestling. I started wrestling while I was in secondary school because I enjoyed fighting while I was much younger but I was more interested in handball. I used to go for handball training at the stadium. But on that day, I went to the wrestling coach and said that I wanted to join his team. The coach told me to sit and watch the wrestlers. After watching for a while, he told me to fight with one of the girls in his team. I did well and he was pleased with me and that was how I took special interest in it. I noticed that handball is a team sport and it will be difficult to make it as an individual but I found wrestling to be a sport where I can be myself and be independent." Her father. "My other family members were not in support of me going into the sport except my father that encouraged me. He couldn't do sports because his own parents discouraged him and maybe I will be the one to take it up. He convinced my mum not to worry and that was how my mum started allowing me as I spent most of my time with her." (thenationonlineng.net, 09 Apr 2021)

EDUCATION
In September 2020 she began studying for a master's degree in sports management at Brock University in St. Catharines, ON, Canada. She has since been studying remotely from Nigeria due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Previously in 2012 she graduated with a bachelor's degree in political science from Adekunle Ajasin University in Akure, Nigeria. "I have to thank coach Purity Akuh for pushing me this far. Sometimes when I feel like not going for lectures [while she was studying at Adekunle Ajasin University], he was always there to encourage me. Actually I wanted to be a lawyer and wanted to study law. But my elder brother convinced me that there are lots of charge and bail lawyers out there that do not even have an office. At the same time, I really like politics. He then advised me to go for political science. The lack of courses like sports science or sport management, which are important in guiding and improving sporting activities in my country, are not offered in most Nigerian universities. I am determined to excel as a wrestler, but my fundamental goal is to contribute my own quota of acquired experience to the development of women's wrestling in Nigeria."
