"At first, I didn't like to wrestle at all. I didn't even know it as a sport as sprinting is all I knew. When I went to the stadium to learn how to run and began preparing for a school competition only the first and second would be picked. I placed second but they dropped me and picked the winner. The wrestling coach [Akuh Purity] saw me crying and said if I wanted to wrestle, he would take me to the same competition. I decided to follow him because I desperately wanted to travel. Luckily, I won a gold medal in the competition. I ended up loving wrestling passionately." (olympicchannel.com, 21 May 2020; naijaloaded.com.ng, 26 Jan 2020; WrestlingTV YouTube channel, 13 Sep 2019)
