She took up the sport in the 10th grade at school. (teamusa.org, 30 Apr 2019)

"My twin sister suggested I get involved when they needed athletes. I joined in 10th grade and I wanted to quit so bad. I felt like every time I got put back down on the mat, people were being mean to me. And when I went to track practice I was like, 'Nobody's touching me, I don't have germs or sweat all over me.' But when I beat a state qualifier in my first dual, I was like, 'Okay, I can probably do this sport.'" (teamusa.org, 30 Apr 2019)

"I sing a song by [US rapper] Lil Wayne to myself. Then, a match or two before I get on the mat I sit in the squat position and I blank out everything that's going on around me and focus on my breathing. I do that for about a minute and then I'm ready to wrestle." (teamusa.org, 30 Apr 2019)
:
"Remember to not give up on yourself and have fun. With those two things tied in together, you'll thrive. For me, this isn't a job, it's actually really fun. Had I quit before I really got started, I don't know where I would be today. " (teamusa.org, 30 Apr 2019)

General Interest

General
CAREER AFTER SPORT
She studied exercise sports management at university with the intention of becoming a physical therapist. However, she has since decided that she would like to become a coach once her sporting career is over. "When I graduated, I decided being a coach would be way more beneficial. I wanted to help people and I wanted to prehab people instead of dealing with the aftermath of them getting hurt. Being a coach, I could be with athletes most of the time and influence them in a better way than who they listen to on the radio or are on reality TV shows that aren't great role models." (teamusa.org, 30 Apr 2019)

2016 DISAPPOINTMENT
She won the US Olympic Trials ahead of the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro before the United States of America had secured a quota place. She had three opportunities to clinch the spot at international tournaments but lost in the quarterfinals and semifinals at the events, where making the final would have earned her place in Rio de Janeiro. "It told me that I have the potential to be great, but I still have a lot of work to do." (olympics.nbcsports.com, 20 Sep 2019)
