She began wrestling by joining a boys team at Penn High School in Mishawaka, IN, United States of America. At first her parents did not want her to wrestle, but changed their minds after her middle school wrote them a letter saying that she should compete. "When I started wrestling, my mum would come over to watch practices with just me and my coach and I would end up wrestling her. This sweet woman let me beat her up at 05:30 in the morning, for the sake of my improvement." (cm-life.com, 06 Feb 2019)
:
Her brothers Cory and Drew competed in the sport and inspired her to start. "They were successful almost immediately. I think that helped me believe in myself just to even begin wrestling." (cm-life.com, 06 Feb 2019)
:
To win gold at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. (USA Wrestling, 19 Jan 2019)

"I train two times a day from Monday to Friday, do a workout on Saturday morning and something like yoga on a Sunday. On a typical week day, I train from 09:00-11:00 and then 14:30-18:00 before having a sauna and getting home at 20:00. As well as mat practice, I lift weights three days a week and do cardio every single day against my coaches' wishes. If I could be on a treadmill all day I would be. My brain and heart wants to be a marathon runner but my knees and legs don't." (spartancombat.com, 04 Dec 2020)

She likes to listen to the band AC/DC before competing and has used the group's 'Thunderstruck' track as her walkout song. "It's symbolic of combat sports. You want to fight even if you don't fight at all." (Rudis Twitter profile, 13 Sep 2020)
:
"I don't care who you are, when that whistle blows, I'm there to fight. And I have nothing but respect for the person who showed up to do the same damn thing." (Instagram profile, 03 Mar 2020)
:
In 2018 she was named USA Wrestling's Women's Wrestler of the Year. She was also named Outstanding Wrestler at both the 2018 Pan American Championships in Lima, Peru, and the 2018 US Open in Las Vegas, NV, United States of America. (teamusa.org, 01 Dec 2019, 01 Apr 2019)
