Her father Lee Miracle was an amateur wrestler and in 2020/21 was in his eighth year as head wrestling coach of the women's team at Campbellsville University. (mid-southconference.org, 03 Apr 2020)
:
She began wrestling at age five. Her father and brother had a passion for wrestling. She asked if she could join in, following which she joined her father's wrestling club. "He tried to get me to quit. He made practises as tough as he could, but I was like, 'This is so fun!' I was just a little kid, but I think he saw that I was really about this." "I had the dream when I was four years old to be an Olympic medallist. We didn't even have women's wrestling in the Olympics at that time. But here I am, at 24 years old, making the Olympic team. I'm grateful for the opportunities I had when I was younger to make me more aware of wrestling and help me grow. No expectation is unrealistic or unattainable." "Thinking about where I am and how far I can go pushes me beyond my comfort zone. I strive to reach a higher level every day and become my best self not only on the mat but off the mat. I just want to get better. One per cent every day." (therudis.com, 01 Jan 2019)
:
In 2018 while representing Campbellsville University she was awarded the 2017/18 Mid-South Conference Wrestler of the Year award. The same year she was also the recipient of the Patricia Miranda Medal, chosen by a panel of voters to honour an outstanding athlete from the Women's College Wrestling Association [WCWA].
