Born in the United States of America to a Serbian father and a US mother, he represented his country of birth at junior level, including at the 2015 Junior World Championships in Salvador, Brazil, before switching to represent Serbia at senior level in 2018. "My dad is Serbian. I am proud of my heritage. Competing for Serbia is making mine and my family's dream come true. Serbia is strong in Greco-Roman wrestling, but they are not as strong in freestyle.
