His parents took him to wrestling training and he grew to love the sport. "I got into wrestling through my parents. Not because they are wrestlers themselves, but because they often watched Bundesliga wrestling with us in Kollerbach. When they were looking for a sports club for me - I was only three years old at the time - they sent me to wrestle. Since I enjoyed it, I stuck with it."
