He moved to Budapest, Hungary, to train at the Mr Tus Wrestling Academy in 2001. "Ferenc Bacsa was my coach as a child. When it became clear he was going to be head coach at Mr Tus, which opened that year, I knew I wanted to go with him. When I arrived in Budapest I weighed only 32 kilos, and to tell you the truth it was hard to begin with. I was very small, and was bullied a lot by the larger kids. In 2019 the president of the Hungarian Olympic Committee, Krisztian Kulcsar, promised Korpasi that should he qualify for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, he would give him the keys to his company rental car. Korpasi secured his place at the Games, and Kulcsar's car, by reaching the final of the 2021 European Qualification Tournament in Budapest, Hungary. "My life has completely changed in almost a day. A huge burden rolled off my shoulders as one of my biggest dreams came true, getting to the Tokyo Olympics. The evening after the semifinal, I received a call from Krisztian Kulcsar, who personally congratulated me on the Olympic place.
