He moved from the 56kg category to 61kg after the weight classes were reorganised by the International Weightlifting Federation [IWF] in 2018. "[2018] marked a turning point in my career. The first time I competed in the new weight category was at the 2018 World Championships in Turkmenistan but I only ranked fifth. For years in the 56kg class I only competed against Long Qingquan [from the People's Republic of China] and Om Yun-Chol [from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea], but when I went up to 61kg I had to face four or five more strong opponents.
