She comes from a family of international weightlifters representing the Dominican Republic. Her aunt Yuderqui Contreras competed at the 2019 Pan American Championships in Guatemala City, Guatemala, and the Olympic Games in 2008, 2012 and 2016. Her uncle Victor Reina competed at the 2004 Pan American Championships in Pereira, Colombia. Her cousins Beatriz, Jhon and Ana have also competed at international level, with Beatriz competing at the Olympic Games in 2012 and 2016.
