She competed in shot put before switching to weightlifting. Her athletics coach decided to introduce her and some other athletes to weightlifting to improve their performance. After six months of training she qualified for the European junior championships. "At these championships, I realised that's what I wanted to do. The atmosphere of the competition was great and I really liked the peculiarities of the sport. You can move a heavy load up with speed and ease. It's very nice. I liked these movements very much."
