She says her friends find it hard to believe that she is a weightlifter, as they still see weightlifting as a male sport, but she is happy to have the support of her parents. "When I started doing this, my father was unhappy. My mother tried convincing him to allow me to follow my passion but it was hard. When I went to my first camp in Pretoria, South Africa, he was against that. He only changed his mind when I went to compete at the 2017 African Youth and Junior Championships in Uganda, where I won three medals." (mmegi.bw, 03 Aug 2018)
