General Interest

General
CHANGE OF CATEGORY
He moved up from the 89kg class to 96kg after winning gold at the 2019 World Championships in Pattaya, Thailand, as the 89kg category was not included on the programme for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. "I want to prove that Japanese people can compete even in the heavyweight class on the international stage. It's not that you don't aim for gold because it's tough. The tougher it is, the more I want to pull my socks up and keep working." (ktv.jp, 18 Mar 2020)

POWERLIFTING
He competed in powerlifting at the 2016 Japan Classic. "In 2015 I was not called up to the national team so I couldn't secure a spot for the 2016 Olympic Games. Therefore I decided to rebuild my body from point zero while training alone. That's how I began focusing on weight training. I increased my followers on social media as I posted clips of my workouts, and the powerlifting scene also reached out to me." (Weight Lift Weights YouTube channel, 14 Sep 2020)
